我坦诚我没有太看懂诺兰的新电影《奥德赛》，或者说，我与上古史诗和传说还是有层壁。全程我都在看这几个让我如此面熟的明星演员，很难进入那个世界——而那个世界，是被寓言和神话编织的。
《奥德赛》讲述的是一个回家的故事。奥德修斯的形象也是复杂的：是聪敏多变、但却让自己的下属流离耗尽的，是希望与命运对抗、却又知晓神的旨意的。而故事的框架以及回乡的支点，又是隐忍与忠贞。
荷马史诗的来源，有趣的是，它是几百年口头传承的产物，但在某个时刻，由某个极有才华的人（或极少数人）定型成了我们现在读到的样子。
I'll be honest: I didn't quite get Nolan's new film, The Odyssey — or perhaps there is still a wall between me and the ancient epics and legends. The whole way through I kept watching those star actors whose faces I know so well, and found it hard to enter that world — a world woven out of fable and myth.
The Odyssey is a story about coming home. And Odysseus himself is a complicated figure: quick-witted and ever-shifting, yet the man whose companions are scattered and spent; determined to contend with fate, yet fully aware of the will of the gods. And the frame of the story — the pivot on which the homecoming turns — is forbearance and faithfulness.
As for where the Homeric epics come from: the fascinating thing is that they are the product of centuries of oral transmission — and yet at some moment, someone of extraordinary talent (or a very small number of such people) fixed them into the shape we read today.
Je l'avoue : je n'ai pas très bien compris le nouveau film de Nolan, L'Odyssée — ou peut-être y a-t-il encore un mur entre moi et les épopées et légendes antiques. Tout du long, je regardais ces acteurs célèbres aux visages si familiers, sans parvenir à entrer dans ce monde — un monde tissé de fables et de mythes.
L'Odyssée est une histoire de retour au foyer. Et Ulysse lui-même est une figure complexe : ingénieux et changeant, mais dont les compagnons s'égarent et s'épuisent ; résolu à lutter contre le destin, tout en connaissant la volonté des dieux. Et la charpente du récit — le point d'appui du retour — c'est la patience et la fidélité.
Quant à l'origine des épopées homériques, le plus fascinant est qu'elles sont le fruit de plusieurs siècles de transmission orale — et pourtant, à un certain moment, quelqu'un d'un immense talent (ou un tout petit nombre de personnes) leur a donné la forme que nous lisons aujourd'hui.
